Best credit cards overall
Ranked by net annual value — what a card actually returns at a documented spend mix, minus what it charges you. Grouped by tier, because a ₹0-fee card and a ₹50,000-fee card are not answering the same question.
How we judged this
- · Net Annual Value = rewards earned across a documented monthly spend mix, plus fuel surcharge saved, minus the annual fee. It is arithmetic on published rates, not an opinion about which card feels premium.
- · No perk is assigned a rupee value. Lounge access, golf rounds and concierge are real benefits but monetizing them would mean inventing a number, so they stay off the score and are shown as attributes instead.
- · Cards are grouped by tier rather than ranked in one flat list. A single list is dominated by high-fee cards that return more in absolute rupees, which is useless if you are shopping for an entry-level card.
Perks like lounge access, golf and concierge are not in this score — pricing them would mean inventing a number.
What would change this ranking
A card's annual fee changes, which moves net annual value rupee-for-rupee and can flip a card from paying for itself to not.
A reward rate is devalued or a monthly cap is introduced — the same spend then earns less, without the headline rate changing.
The documented spend mix stops matching how you actually spend. This ranking answers one spend pattern; the spend calculator answers yours.
